Hand Carved Alabaster Vase AB101A

This is a handmade vase that is, while not a museum replica, perhaps not unlike some carved by the ancient Egyptians thousands of years ago. This alabaster vase is made by hand using hand tools, and very possibly was made in the Alabaster shops of Luxor. Egyptians hand-carve these fine vases using traditional tools. Therefore, no two are exactly alike and darkness of color can vary. Hand made alabaster products are almost always much thinner, finer pieces that are more translucent than machine made alabaster. Its finish is also much less polished than machined alabaster. Obviously, the hand made products are also more sought after. Please note: Water will damage hand-carved alabaster items. Colors can vary from white to cream to brown. Picture shows two vases to show the differences in color.
