Tutankhamun In The Garden

Tutankhamun In The Garden

Papyrus 728

Papyrus width: 17" Papyrus heighth: 13", Papyrus Art width: 12" heighth: 7", Hand painted and signed on AGED (brown)papyrus. A colorized representation on one end of a chest found in the tomb of Tutankhamun, depicting Tutankhamun shooting with bow and arrow wild fowl and fish from the bank of a rectangular pound. He is seated on a carved back chair with a cushion and his feet rest on a cushioned footstool. His extended left arm holding the bow is protected by an archer's leather bracer from injury through friction caused by the string. The queen sits on the cushion in front of him, holding a lotus flower in her right hand and an arrow, ready to pass it to the king, in her left hand. Beneath the pound is an attendant carrying a fish and a duck, both transpierced by one of the king's arrows. This whole scene portrays the idyllic setting for the king's afterlife.
