Hunting scene from the tomb of Menna
|
Detailed Description
Heighth: 8"; Maximum Diameter: 5"; Material: Ceramic
This is a partial representation from the tomb of Menna located in the Tombs of the Nobles on the West Bank at ancient Thebes (modern Luxor). It depicts Menna, accompanied by his family, fishing with a harpoon and fowling with a throw stick. Fish and geese frolic in the water below. The vase has a fairly good representation of this scene, though reversed and with some minor deviations. There is a similar scene also in the nearby tomb of Nakht.
